OUR MISSION

Chander Haat is an artist-run collective based in Sarsuna, on the southern fringes of Kolkata, India. We foster creative exchange by bringing together artists, communities, and ideas through workshops, discussions, performances, collaborative projects, and interdisciplinary practice. We encourage experimentation, dialogue, and the sharing of knowledge across disciplines.

CHANDER HAAT RESIDENCY PROGRAM

The Chander Haat Residency Program offers artists and creative practitioners a space for dialogue, experimentation, collaboration, and exchange. It brings together people from diverse disciplines, including visual arts, architecture, new media, performance, community-based art, textiles, culinary, photography, film, sculpture, painting, installation, mixed media, design, and other interdisciplinary practices, along with curators, researchers, and academicians. The residency provides participants with time and space away from their everyday routines to reflect, research, create, and share their work. Through presentations, interactions with local communities, and exchanges with fellow residents, participants are encouraged to expand their practice, explore new ideas, and engage with a different cultural context.

Disciplines and Media: Visual artists, architects, designers, performers, photographers, filmmakers, sculptors, painters, textile and culinary artists, community-based practitioners, and professionals working across new media, mixed media, installation, and other interdisciplinary practices, as well as curators, researchers, and academicians.
